Stephen Leicht took advantage of Carl Edwards’ late wreck to win for the first time in the Busch Series, passing rookie Brad Coleman with 13 laps left and holding on Saturday night in the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

Leicht, whose best finish previous was eighth in the Pepsi 300 in April, beat Coleman by 1.851 seconds.

A year after unsung David Gilliland stunned the field, Leicht repeated the feat at the 1.

Waltrip makes another driver change

Posted by on June 16th, 2007

Michael Waltrip again juggled his roles as team owner and driver Saturday, replacing David Reutimann for next weekend’s race at Infineon Raceway.

P.J. Jones will drive on the road course while Reutimann will concentrate on the Busch Series race in Milwaukee. Reutimann is fourth in the Busch standings.

Reutimann, who is 43rd in the Cup standings, is not assured a spot in the field and Waltrip believed Jones had a better chance of qualifying the car.

Rick Hendrick has two series champions in his stable, lucrative sponsorship, seemingly endless resources and an unwavering commitment to his organization.

It’s given him the most dominant team in NASCAR, which enters Sunday’s race at Michigan International Speedway seeking its 11th victory of the season.

Now Dale Earnhardt Jr. is to join the team next season, creating a lineup likened to NASCAR’s version of the New York Yankees. Just how powerful it makes the team remains to be seen.
