Stewart docked 25 points, fined $25K

NASCAR announced today that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and penalized 25 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver championship points, as a result of using inappropriate language during a post-race televised interview following his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Wallace OK after attempted mugging

Steve Wallace, 19-year-old son of ESPN announcer and former NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace, suffered minor cuts and bruises in an attempted mugging after the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

The younger Wallace was attacked Sunday by at least three people outside a convenience store following the race, according to a statement on Rusty Wallace’s Web site Tuesday.
