Had Jimmie Johnson’s accident at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday happened a few years ago, he might have walked away with more than a sore elbow.
Johnson crashed when his tire blew with 45 laps to go Sunday, sending him hard into the wall.
“Just going down the back straightway, that sucker exploded,” Johnson said. “I thought the drive shaft came out of (the car), it was so violent.”
The accident knocked the wind out of him, and he hit his elbow on the seat.
