The gold standard of open wheel racing has lost its luster this season.

Team Penske drivers Sam Hornish Jr. and Helio Castroneves are fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Indy Racing League’s points standings.

Both are having relatively solid seasons, but agree the results are not acceptable when the famed Roger Penske is your boss.

“I would say that’s a fair assessment,” Hornish said.

Hornish won the IRL title last season for an unprecedented third time.
