NASCAR announced today that Nationwide Insurance will become the primary sponsor for the sport’s second-tier series.

After a 26-year partnership the NASCAR Busch Series will become the NASCAR Nationwide Series starting in 2008. Make sure you don’t forget that the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series will become the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series …

Mike Bumgarner, crew chief for the No. 5 Chevrolet driven by Kyle Busch in the NASCAR Busch Series, has been fined $10,000 for an infraction last weekend at Kansas Speedway.

After Busch won the race, NASCAR inspectors discovered an unapproved intake manifold. The part was taken to NASCAR’s Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., where the violation was confirmed.

Ganassi’s got drivers, now give them cars

Nationwide Insurance has signed a seven-year deal to become the title sponsor of NASCAR’s No. 2 series beginning in 2008.

As NASCAR celebrates its 60th anniversary, the 2008 season will bring a new name &#151 the NASCAR Nationwide Series to the nation’s second-most popular series.

Kyle Busch’s crew chief hit with a $10,000 fine

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -Mike Bumgarner, crew chief for the No. 5 Chevrolet driven by Kyle Busch in the NASCAR Busch Series, has been fined $10,000 for an infraction last weekend at Kansas Speedway.

7-year deal to sponsor NASCAR’s No. 2 series

Nationwide Insurance has signed a seven-year deal to become the title sponsor of NASCAR’s No. 2 series beginning in 2008.

Nationwide replaces Anheuser-Busch, which has sponsored the second-tier Busch Series for 26 seasons.

The series will be called the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Will replace either Green or Sauter

Scott Riggs was hired Wednesday to drive for Haas CNC Racing, in a car to be determined later.

Riggs will replace Jeff Green in the No. 66 or Johnny Sauter in the No. 70, the team said.

“Its exciting for us to land a driver with Scott’s leadership experience and great attitude,” said general manager Joe Custer. “We’re confident in our equipment. We believe Scott has the ability to get every bit of speed a car can offer.”

He joined Evernham Motorsports last season in the No. 10 Dodge.
