Chip Ganassi isn’t backing away from the harsh criticism he leveled at his own team last weekend.

On Wednesday, Ganassi acknowledged he held a round-table meeting with his struggling team two days ago to discuss how to correct problems that have plagued his NASCAR racers this season. Those woes included Dario Franchitti missing last Sunday’s race at Texas.

Female NASCAR official killed in car accident

Brienne Davis, one of NASCAR’s few full-time female inspectors, was killed in a car accident Tuesday night. She was 28.

Davis joined NASCAR in 2004 and traveled every weekend to inspect carburetors and manifolds. She was scheduled to work this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.

“We are deeply saddened at the loss of NASCAR Sprint Cup official Brienne Davis,” NASCAR said in a statement. “She was a key member of our team of inspectors and will be missed by the NASCAR community.

Radio companies battle over NHMS rights

International Speedway Corp. and Speedway Motorsports Inc. are currently locked in a legal battle over broadcast rights for NASCAR races at New Hampshire Motor Speeway, according to a recent report at NASCAR Scene’s website SceneDaily.com.
