its on the steering wheel. and it shows just how much those things vibrate in their hands
Wow. Great footage…
Yeah wiggle vision!
This shows a good example of how much steering input he’s using. I can only assume someone like Danica would be more used to a tighter wheel.
awesome, makes me want to drive the car
@3Zzy7 Are you sure?
If it’s hanging down from there then why did it appear to spin itself under the dash/looking at his legs a couple of times as he was turning while backing out of the pit stall?
I think it was attached to the steering wheel as others have stated.
incredible video. Go paul! haha
As much as I hate the 2 by 2 drafting, it would be cool to see it from this view.
Awesome vid, can’t wait for Daytona!
The sound of 8 cylinders singing harmony… <3
Whoa. Wiggly lines. It’s like I’m watching Dr. Katz.
@DigitalAlpine each driver does use a steering box that changes how far over they have to turn the wheel to make it corner. But it’s still pretty amazing to get this added glimpse into Paul’s style.
Running right around 47 seconds for the lap.. Looked like a mock qual-run, clocking in at around the 191.6 mph range.. The higher steering ratio is so minor adjustments among a pack of cars is just that, MINOR.. A lower ratio might make the car too unstable in the pack or with someone pushing when he makes a correction..
@LS1LT1 Yes, because that was probably when he was putting it up on the place where they put the helmets.
Menard needs a Go-Pro… Great footage btw
Steering boxes are a driver preference thing. Some like more input, some like less. At speedways you want as little steering input as can because you want to keep the wheels as straight as possible to not scrub off speed.
that was awesome
WOW that was awesome!
Way cool. Never sounded like he was running full out.
INSANE !!!!!!
Hope he leaves that on in the daytona 500!
Wonder what it will look like in-race…with a decent driver…
he should put it on the dashboard
@DaveRFuller Paul is one of the best, soo..
How much would you give to be in his seat right now. BRING ON NASCAR 2012.
